I've identified that the minimum requirement is actually a room with an interior 7 tiles wide and 5 tiles tall, and the wall is allowed to be missing a few tiles (I've managed 16 missing, maybe more is possible). I just tried out minimal setups for setting my spawn point using a bed on PC, and it seems the info in this section is wrong. "Setting player spawn point" wrong info? as if I stood up for a brief moment before lying down again). Out of the items I've tried (which mainly consisted of stuff on my endgame hotbar), the Golden Fishing Rod, Stardust Dragon Staff and Rainbow Crystal Staff, and Zenith were all usable without waking up, though it did cause time acceleration to get reset (i.e. There appear to be some items which do not wake you up when using them, provided that you aim upwards. Sleeping doesn't work if bosses (or in my case, one of the lunar pillars) are present in your world Maybe the cooldown effect carries over to any method of speeding up time? Hopefully they'll roll out an update that'll implement the crystal bed soon. It's disappointing that the best looking bed is unimplemented. There are 20 / 19 different Crystal furniture items.
